Results are in for Michigan’s U.S. House District 1 race

Jack Bergman was won the U.S. House District 1 race in Michigan, being re-elected for another term. He had with roughly 271,873 (59%) of votes, with his challenger Callie Barr winning 175,761 (38.1%) votes.

Michigan voters head to the polls to vote for the U.S. House seats up for election, including the 1st Congressional District of Michigan.

District 1 covers the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as the north area down till a bit pass Houghton Lake. The district has had a Republican representative since 2017. Jack Bergman has served on the house seat and looks to continue his 7 years of service. And this election he is challenged by Callie Barr.

Barr’s background of a law degree from Michigan Law School followed by working at a litigation attorney helped her connect veterans to free legal services. She also worked as an English teacher. Barr’s website highlights a focus on the middle class, upholding democracy and investing in the next generation.

Both parties share a history and are closely connected to service members, and U.S. Marine Corps. Callie Barr followed her husband who serving two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan while raising their children. While Jack Bergman, served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 2009, retiring as a lieutenant general. Upon his election in 2017, he became the highest-ranking combat veteran ever elected to Congress.

Bergman congressman website includes his past legislations alongside his value of “If you work hard, never quit, and strive for excellence, you will find success.” Those values are what guided him to the rank of Lt. General in the United States Marine Corps, empowered him to own and operate a small business, and allowed him to enjoy a 22-year career as a commercial airline pilot.

Andrew Gale (L) and Liz Hakola (Working Class Party) are also running for the U.S. House Michigan District 1 seat.
