13 year old injured in ATV accident on Taconite Trail

At around 7:30 pm Saturday night, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of an ATV accident with injuries on the Taconite Trail.
The accident took place at “Wooden Table Spur” in Unorganized Township 60R 19, which is approximately 15 miles north of the Buhl.
Area first responders arrived at the ATV trail and found a 13 year old male from the Eveleth area. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was driving the ATV when it flipped over and ejected him.
The 13 year old was the lone occupant of the ATV and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Chisholm Ambulance transported him to an area hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Evergreen Fire Department, Chisholm Ambulance, and the Chisholm Fire Department.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, but neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors.
