Big racing weekend at Giants Ridge

This weekend brings the Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge (MESC), a thrilling two-day snowmobiling event to Giants Ridge in Biwabik. The event brings riders and fans together for an action-packed weekend of racing, jumping, and speed from April 11 – 12.
According to organizers, returning for its fifth edition on Saturday at 3PM is Levi’s TRI-5, where 13-time X Games medalist, Red Bull athlete, and snowmobile legend Levi LaVallee leads the most fun-filled, off-the-wall race of the season—all in support of Wings for Life USA – Spinal Cord Research Foundation. This year’s theme? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
“This ain’t your average race,” LaVallee said in a press release. “TRI-5 is all about raising money for a great cause—and having the most fun doing it. At the end of the day, it’s not about who finishes first—it’s about who has the most fun!”
The MESC weekend includes three signature events:
- Hill Drag (Friday at 4PM): High-speed, straight-line races up the Alpine slope test riders’ acceleration and power.
- Hill Climb (Saturday at 8AM): A timed, slalom-style race where the fastest and most skilled riders race to the summit.
- Hill Cross (Saturday at 9AM): A gritty challenge featuring massive jumps, moguls, and mountain mayhem.
