City of Duluth addresses Cascade Park infrastructure
Jim Williams, Director for Property, Parks & Libraries in Duluth, addressed community concerns Friday over deteriorated infrastructure in Cascade Park.
Williams said that while there is not a complete plan of action at this time, the city plans on taking a three phase approach.
“In Phase I, scheduled to take place this fall, we will implement an interim solution including clean-up and stabilization of the retaining wall site and reopening of the pathway to the tower,” explained Williams. “In Phase II, scheduled for 2024, we will engage the community – with technical support from engineers, landscape architects, and cultural resource specialists – to develop a long-term plan to renew deteriorated infrastructure at Cascade Park.”
After the first two phases are complete, the city will then seek grant funding to enact the plan.
