Corridor study for Hwy 73 complete, according to MnDOT

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has published its final report for the Hwy 73 corridor study from Cromwell to Kettle River. The information was released on Tuesday. No projects are currently being planned at this time.

The study began in 2023. MnDOT officials say they did the Hwy 73 study from Cromwell to Kettle River in response to the community’s Hwy 73 Action Committee and their need for advancing improvements. The public was able to provide input and MnDOT received a safety and traffic analysis.

According to a release from MnDOT, the corridor study included:

  • Performing a safety analysis along the corridor
  • Engaging local partners, organizations and community members to gather feedback on existing roadway issues
  • Developing potential corridor alternatives and cost estimates that address the issues and concerns
  • Identifying environmental impacts for each alternative
  • Identifying potential improvement projects that match the needs of the corridor with available funding

Potential design alternatives were created, and recommendations detailed in the study can be used to help make future roadway design decisions.
