Crews respond to fire in Carlton grocery store

Around 5:23 pm on Monday, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a
commercial food smoker on fire inside of the Carlton Meat and Grocery Store (500 3rd Street) in
Carlton. The business owner was on scene when the fire started and called 911. The commercial
food smoker was located in the attic area of the building. Carlton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, along with the Carlton Fire Department. The small fire was quickly contained and put out.

No injuries were reported by the business owner or emergency personnel. The Esko Fire Department and Wrenshall Fire Department responded to assist. No foul play is suspected in the fire.
