Grand Avenue in Duluth to reopen after water main break

Additional update: Grand Avenue in Duluth will reopen to traffic Friday, August 30 following a closure due to a water main break. As per a representative from the City of Duluth, final road repairs will be complete next year.

Update: Water services have been restored. Utility workers will now backfill the dig site and remove broken payment debris. The temporary closure to Grand Avenue will remain in place until a patch can be applied by City of Duluth street maintenance crews. The temporary patch is expected to be complete August 30.

Original Story: Duluth City Officials say they are working to repair a water main break at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Central Avenue. 

Utility operations crews say that the break is still being assessed but many homes and businesses are affected in the immediate area. 

Officials report a section of Grand Avenue between Central Avenue and Elinor Street are currently closed to traffic to allow crews to work. If you drive through this area, find a detour.
