Excitement builds for the annual Lake Superior Ice Festival
Barker’s Island in Superior is the place to be on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25, when the FREE Lake Superior Ice Festival returns. There is so much to do! The family-friendly event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and concludes with a fireworks display at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
It’s a weekend filled with fun activities, delicious food, and plenty of winter excitement.
Festival Highlights:
- Come take a ride down the Superior Snow Slide and watch live ice sculpting
- Spend time in the Superior YMCA Kid’s Zone
- Play Disc Golf and Mini Golf
- Learn to play Kubb and join the Kubb Tournament
- Meet ice princesses and other characters at Fairlawn Mansion
There will be Ice Bowling, Blizzy’s Mascot Dance-Off, and Snowga (yoga in the snow), Cornhole Tournament hosted by Twin Ports Cornhole, Ice Fishing with the Western Lake Superior Trolling Association, Plankton Towing with the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve, Mini-Golf by Nemadji Golf Course, and Adult and Youth Snowshoeing by UW Superior Outdoor Recreation.
Organizers say Midwest Ice Racing will returns with “Friday Night Under the Lights” and Ice Races on Saturday.
