Garage deemed total loss in Skelton Township fire

Fire crews in Carlton County responded to reports of a structure fire in Skelton Township off of County Road 157 around 1:30 p.m. on October 26.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office a detached garage was fully engulfed when crews arrived. The caller said that nobody was in the garage, and that it wasn’t close to their home.

The garage has been deemed a total loss and no injuries were reported in the blaze. At this time the Sheriff’s office says the cause appears to be electrical and isn’t considered suspicious.

Responding agencies include the Mahtowa Fire Department, Barnum Fire Department, Moose Lake Fire Department, Essentia Health Moose Lake ambulance and Carlton County Sheriff’s Office.
