Heads up dog lovers! Superior Dog Show has begun

If you’re a lover of dogs, you’ll want to check out the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds in Superior, WI. From September 19th to September 22nd, each day at 9am the gates open at the fairgrounds.

The American Kennel Club, the AKC, is hosting its annual four-day dog show. As breeders, families, and dog enjoyers gather together to show off the plethora of dog breeds that fill the fairgrounds.

This dog show has a big confirmation show, which is all-breed. This is the typical, which you see on TV, Westminster and other national shows. This is a local version of it. If you’ve been to the Duluth show, this is similar, just at a different location. Both are licensed with AKC.

Michael Melton, the president of the American Kennel club, spoke about the events and the putting together of this event.

“This is an AKC level show, so it’s about as big of an opportunity as you get for showing your dogs in this area. And all breed is basically judging the quality of dogs. So, you get to see some really top-quality dogs. We’ve got some breeders that have been to Westminster, taking national,”

Community Impact

Not only does this high-level AK dog show bring people together, but it also helps support the local businesses and economy. As 350 entries are already here day one.

“So, people are getting out and about and giving some business to the community in the process too. So, we’re excited about all that, is offering the opportunity for the people that have dogs and are interested in participating. But also working with the other businesses in the area and organizations that wherever we can fit in and be of help, that’s part of what we do.”

The dog show will be till September 22nd, with gates opening at 9am for the $5 dollars per car day parking.
