Items needed for Holiday Drive to help Silver Bay Veterans

Helping those in need is a big part of the holiday season and this year is the 15th annual Holiday Drive for Silver Bay Veterans. The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, the Bong Book Club, Richard I. Bong American Legion Auxiliary, and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 are coming together to support local heroes at the Silver Bay Veterans Home.

The Holiday Drive initiative provides essential supplies and holiday fun to veterans residing at the home. Over the years, the community’s generosity has made a big difference in making the holidays special for the residents.

The organizers are asking for donations of much-needed items. They say they have enough puzzles, socks and magazines. Items can be dropped off, un-wrapped at the Bong Center by January 5.

Clothing-related Items

  • Pajama sets or comfy pants – all sizes (mostly large)
  • Long-sleeve T-shirts – all sizes, various colors
  • Sweatpants and sweatshirts – mostly size large and extra large

Health and Personal Care Items (* Please donate standard size items, not travel size)

  • Candy
  • Combs and hairbrushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • Nail files and clippers
  • Denture cleaner
  • Men’s aftershave (alcohol-free) *
  • Shaving cream*
  • Lotion*

Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center is located at 305 E 2nd Street in Superior. Hours are 9AM – 5PM.
