Looking for volunteers for Head of the Lakes United Way
The Head of the Lakes United Way (HLUW) is searching for volunteers to serve on community investment panels for the 2023-2024 grant cycle. According to Community Impact Director, Liz Pawlik, the purpose of the Community Investment Panel is to gain community involvement and input on HLUW funded programs that are responsive to our area’s most pressing needs.
Community-wide volunteer panelists help review and evaluate partner agency requests for grant funding.
“Panel Volunteers play a critical role in deciding how funds raised by Head of the Lakes United Way are used to meet needs in the community. From start to finish, this is a community-driven process where community members help make informed funding recommendations,” Pawlik said in a press release.
Volunteer Panelists review community wide applications for funding and hear presentations from non-profit agencies. In addition, panelists work with other members of the community to decide what percentage of the funding request will be granted to the applicant. Applications are open to anyone that is a resident of the HLUW service area (Ashland-Bayfield, Greater Duluth, Northshore – Lake & Cook Counties and Superior-Douglas County areas). Qualifications for this position include basic knowledge of the service area communities; available to the desire to work towards positive change and improved outcomes for all people in our communities. Application deadline is October 28, 2022.
