Portion of Lincoln Park to close until further notice
A portion of Lincoln Park will be closed beginning Monday, May 15 to allow for work to be done on park and infratructure improvements. According to the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation, the closure will include a portion of lower Lincoln Park, between W 3rd and W 7th Streets. Due to construction, no events or programming will be allowed in Lincoln Park until Spring of 2024 at the earliest.
City officials say the trails in the upper portion of the park between W 7th Street and W Skyline will remain open for use.
In February of 2016 the city adopted the Lincoln Park Mini-Master Plan that focused on major renovations and replacement of existing park amenities and infrastructure. Find out more about the Lincoln Park Improvement Project.
According to the City, park improvements includes restoration of the historic stone pavilion with new ADA restroom facilities, playground relocation and replacement, new parking lots, a new nature playscape, new and refurbished picnic pavilions, a new multi-use sport court, accessible trails, and lighting.
Construction is anticipated to last through fall of 2023.
