Proctor School Board chooses new superintendent

Proctor School Board chooses new superintendent, Tim Rohweder

The Proctor Public School District has selected a new superintendent following Kerry Juntanen’s decision to step away from the role.

The district chose Proctor High School principal Tim Rohweder to fill the position. He was picked from a pool of 12 applicants based on criteria laid out by the school board, along with input from the public.

“It’s an honor, it really is an honor to be selected by our school board to lead the district. Having been born and raised in Proctor in this Proctor community, having a family that worked in the railroad and learned that grit and perseverance that Proctor is known for, and then spending my career here in Proctor, it’s an honor to be able to lead the district and use that knowledge I have of our community and of our school district to help move us forward,” said Rohweder.

Rohweder is a graduate of Proctor High School himself. He attended North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota-Duluth for his undergraduate studies, earning a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from UMD. He earned his master’s degree from St. Mary’s University in education, teaching and learning. Later on, he returned to UMD for his K-12 administration license along with an E.d.S. degree and district superintendent license.

“I get chills, and I get goosebumps, and I get emotional even thinking about the road I’ve been on. And to get to this point, the people that have supported me and helped me learn what I need to learn to be qualified to take this role, and now it’s time for me to pay that back and to serve and make sure that what we’re doing here at Proctor Public Schools is what’s best for our students and is going to help our next generation be successful,” said Rohweder.

He began working in the Proctor School District as a social studies teacher in 1999, working his way up to 6-12 principal in 2014, and eventually high school principal in 2018. He also coached the high school baseball team and served as an assistant coach for the football team.

His expected start date is July 1, 2025.
