Saints give back on Community Day

Wednesday marked another successful Community Day for the College of St. Scholastica. About 600 students stepped off campus and outside their normal routines to give back with service projects.

WDIO caught up with a group volunteering with Loaves and Fishes. Students weeded the ground of the Olive Branch, and emergency shelter in Duluth for women and children.

Instructor Callie Ronstrom explained to WDIO, “One of our values at the college is community. So, part of what we’re hoping to instill is that send of the responsibility for the communities they’re in at the college.”

Student Fergus Oulman added, “It’s a great experience. (I’m) really enjoying it and really connecting witht he community.”

Groups helped out at area elementary schools, UDAC, Duluth Community GArden Program, Northland Adaptive Recreation, and so many other community organizations.

Community Day happens every semester.
