St. Louis County Rescue Squad locates missing man

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office announced that members of the rescue squad successfully located a missing man after he’d been missing for hours on March 8.

The man, a 61-year-old with dementia, had been reporting missing around 3:30 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office said he’d last been seen around 6:30 p.m. in Brevator Township near Highway 2, where he had reportedly been hitchhiking, before looking for a place to sleep.

The Sheriff’s Office began their search nearby but were unable to locate the man. They then paged the St. Louis County Rescue Squad to help with the search just before 10 p.m.

Just after 11 p.m. rescue squad members found the man lying down near Highway 2, close to Independence Road. Reports say he was “wet and hypothermic”, but was able to move and communicate with responders. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Rescue Squad were assisted by Cloquet Ambulance, and the Proctor Police Department.
