The 10th annual Gopher Golf Classic event kicked off Friday August 2nd. Golfers came to enjoy time with friends and family, sink a few holes, and raise money for a good cause.

This year’s proceeds went to the Valley Youth Center, a program for youth ages 5 and up in west Duluth hosting after school and summer programs.

This year the Gopher Golf Classic hosted 30 teams, a record for the event, many of which were new to the event, and golf.

“I love it. I love golf. I’m new to it. But it’s been a great experience,” said event attendee and West Duluth local Alexia Klaas. “So, to be able to support in this way and have fun with my mom and family and friends, it’s just awesome. And I’m just really happy to be here and be a part of it.”

The event was part of Spirit Valley Days, an event series in Duluth spanning August 1st to August 3rd.
