Split Rock Lighthouse up for one of ‘Minnesota’s Best’
A fan favorite for many Northlanders, Split Rock Lighthouse is getting some national attention in an online contest with Minnesota’s Best.
Fans can vote for the Lighthouse one time per day in the Landmark and Day Trip categories. The contest goes through Wednesday, April 5. Winners will be announced in August.
Split Rock Lighthouse was built in 1910, decommissioned in 1969, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011. Visitors see the 1920’s restoration while touring the fog-signal building and the keeper’s dwelling.
The site is located in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park on U.S. Highway 61, 20 miles northeast of Two Harbors.
