Superior home damaged by kitchen fire Friday night

At 7:47 pm on Friday night, the Superior Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the 800 block of North 19th Street. Fire crews arrived four minutes later to find fire in the kitchen of the home.

According to the Superior Fire Department, the resident and her grandson were alerted by working smoke detectors and bring themselves and several pets to safety.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire confined to the kitchen. Damages to the building and contents are estimated to be $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Superior Police Department, UWS Police, and Mayo Ambulance assisted Superior Fire on scene.
