UMD’s welcome week ends as students meet Chancellor McMillan
UMD’s welcome week ends Saturday, August 26th, but students got a chance to meet with Chancellor David McMillian. Some of the fun activities incoming students had this week were at the Bulldog Bash. New Bulldogs meet friends and explore the campus.
Ethan Ion, the Vice President of the Student Body, said that students need to familiarize themselves with the campus. “Every building is connected,” Ion said. “It’s really important to get a good grasp on the layout of the place. Know where your classes are, Make sure your make sure you’re ready for day one.”
Also Ion said that students should experience more of the campus and parts of Duluth. “Don’t only come to campus to go to the classroom to get good grades. Don’t only focus on school. Have some fun too,” Ion said. “Hit the town, try some different things, join some clubs, or do some extracurricular activities. They’re super important and they really kind of enhance the college experience.”
New UMD students final event for the UMD’s welcome week is the Bulldog Scramble in Malosky stadium. Finally, on Sunday, students will go out and experience some fun and complete a short community service activity in Duluth.
