Violent offender arrested in Duluth after attempt to flee
At around noon on Wednesday, Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF) Investigators conducted a search warrant in the area of 2nd Ave E and E 3rd St, with assistance from Duluth Police Officers.
After attempting to flee from officers on a stolen bicycle, 43-year-old Duluth resident Melvin Carlton was detained without incident. During the search warrant of his persons, a loaded firearm , magazine, and methamphetamine were located and seized.
Carlton was lodged at the St. Louis County Jain on a warrant and pending charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 5th Degree Possession of Methamphetamine, and Fleeing.
Ammunition and evidence of fentanyl sales were located and seized during another search warrant at Carlton’s residence.
