Youth basketball scholarship honors the life of Brady VanHove

The family and friends of Brady VanHove gathered together to celebrate the new Brady VanHove Memorial Scholarship fund.

The family and friends of Brady VanHove gathered together to celebrate the new Brady VanHove Memorial Scholarship fund on Wednesday January 29th.

VanHove started playing basketball at the age of four with the Salvation Army Rookie Basketball Association. The young start led to a ten-year streak of playing basketball from the 3rd grade to the 12th grade.

Tragically, Brady VanHove passed away at the age of 21 in an industrial accident.

The Brady VanHove Memorial Scholarship fund, benefiting the Salvation Army Rookie Basketball Association, will give a $1,000 scholarship each year to youth basketball players in Duluth.

“This helps us not have any barriers,” said Kris Mallett the Rookie Basketball Association Director. “We can help kids when they want to play basketball, but they can’t afford to play. We want them to have the outlet of sport. “
