3 injured in a building explosion in Anoka County
Three men were hospitalized after a reported explosion Monday morning in Anoka County. It happened at around 8:30 a.m. on the 2800 block of Viking Boulevard Northeast at a place that was currently under construction. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office asked community members to avoid the area so crews could work. The department added that there isn’t any danger to the public.
5 Eyewitness News Chopper video showed extensive damage to the structure, which also appeared to have partially collapsed. There also wasn’t any siding on the building.

East Bethel’s fire chief confirmed three people were taken to the hospital. According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, one of the men was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center, while the other two were taken there by ambulance. All three had been trapped inside.
Their conditions are unknown at this time.
Most emergency personnel had left the scene by 10 a.m. but officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion.
