Be part of the discussion plan for Solana State Forest
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be holding an open house to discuss trail plans for Solana State Forest on Wednesday, October 16 at the Aitkin High School, 306 2nd St. NW in Aitkin. Anyone interested in non-motorized and motorized use of recreational trail systems is invited to attend.
Solana State Forest is in southeastern Aitkin County, near McGrath, Minnesota. It is 22 miles west of Willow River.
The public will have the opportunity to participate in the forest trails revision planning process. The DNR is looking for input on improving trail sustainability and enhancing user experiences. Representatives from a variety of DNR divisions and areas of expertise will be present to discuss the planning process.
According to the DNR, potential trail-related actions within the planning area include:
- identifying or creating connections to facilities and amenities
- classifying new trails
- rerouting or closing unsustainable trails
