One injured in four car accident on I-35

A four-car collision was reported in the late afternoon of August 11 on Interstate 35 in Barry township, just North of Hinkley, Minnesota.

Authorities say three vehicles, a Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Colorado, and a Jeep Wrangler were stopped in traffic when a Chevrolet Silverado being driven by an Esko woman was coming up fast behind the Jeep. The Jeep then pulled onto the shoulder as the driver didn’t think that the Silverado was going to stop. The Silverado hit the Jeep, which in turn hit the Colorado, and the Colorado was pushed into the Explorer.

Authorities say the Jeep was flipped onto its driver’s side after being struck by the Silverado.

According to the report, all involved in the accidents were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol was not involved. Only one person, a passenger in the Colorado, sustained injuries. They were transported to Essentia Sandstone for treatment.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by Pine County Fire, Kanabec County Ambulance, Essentia Health Sandstone.
