1 person dead, 2 severely injured in Itasca County car accident

On Sunday Sept. 3, a Honda Civic was driving southbound on County Road 7 and was attempting to head northbound on Highway 169 in Taconite.

Upon entering the Highway, the Honda Civic was struck on the driver side by a Chevrolet Silverado hauling a fifth-wheel camper driving. Officials say the car was heading southbound.

The male victim has been identified as Matthew Reigel from Bigfork Minnesota. Reigal was driving a 7-year-old girl and a 32-year-old woman. Both of whom are in hospital with severe injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet is reported to have no injuries.

There was no alcohol involved in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing.
