10-acre fire burning in BWCA
The U.S. Forest Service says there is a 10-acre fire burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
The fire is southeast of Lake 3 and north of Horseshoe Lake. It was reported the afternoon of Sept. 7.
The Forest Service says it is 30% contained. It is being fought dropping water from a plane.
“An upcoming cold front is bringing cooler temperatures, some precipitation and less winds to reassess if conditions are safer to allow firefighters to begin ground suppression,” a Friday update said.
One campsite on the northeast corner of Lake 3 is closed, but no fire restrictions are in effect.
