148th Fighter Wing to deploy airmen and aircraft overseas this summer
About 300 airmen and some of the aircraft from the 148th Fighter Wing are preparing to deploy overseas this summer.
The location is not being released until the group has arrived at their location. It will be about a 3 month deployment.
According to the Air National Guard, this is part of their regularly scheduled deployment rotation.
“The Air National Guard is a combat-ready reserve of the Air Force, providing mission-ready Airmen to safeguard the homeland and execute global operations,” said 148th Fighter Wing commander, Col. Nate Aysta. “The Bulldogs of the 148th Fighter Wing are ready to provide a trained and equipped aviation package of Airmen and aircraft to meet the needs of our deployed location.”
The 148th has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia before.
More than 1000 airmen are part of the unit.
