Cale Prosen has finished a pretty amazing feat. He circumnavigated around Lake Superior in a kayak, alone, returning home on June 22nd. It took him 42 days.

The 20-year-old from Cloquet told us he’s feeling good, and it’s a bit of a transition from paddling for so many days to being back at work and with family.

He started planning this about a year ago. “I wanted to make memories that will last forever,” he said. Even the sore shoulders, mosquitos, and wild waves added it up to quite the trip. “It’s something I can look back upon and be proud of,” he said.

The incoming junior at St. Scholastica is a biology, chemistry, and secondary science education major. He wants to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and protecting the ecosystems.
