$26 million dollars awarded to Hibbing HRA for housing project
An exciting day for the Hibbing HRA. The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency has awarded them nearly $26 million dollars for a new, 52-unit workforce housing development.
It’s called Cobb Cook Place, and will replace 52 units at the aging Greenhaven Apartments.
You may remember the initial plan was to put the housing at Cobb Cook Park. But after the community challenged that decision, the project was moved to the 4000 block of 5th Avenue West.
The plan is to break ground in the fall.
“We’ll be reviewing the area, and there be some alternations to the original plan, but the unit mix will stay the same and the community areas in our new building,” shared Jackie Prescott, Executive Director of the HRA.
“Local taxes will not go up due to this project,” Prescott added.
Funding is also coming from Iron Range Resources, HEDA, and the HRA.
