46th Annual Atmore Memorial ski races begin
The 46th Annual Atmore Memorial ski races began at Spirit Mountain in Duluth on Friday, February 9th.
The races run through Sunday, February 11.
Every year draws racers from coast-to-coast – including multiple Olympians, US Ski Team and Team America members.
Conditions were a little rainy for the first day of racing, but the skiers were undeterred.
“It’s definitely more dreary than we’re used to, but it is still great snow and a great time to race,” said Stella Stinnett with Buck Hill Ski.
Florian Jgodic, head coach for Sugar Bowl Ski Academy, shared the sentiment.
“Conditions are good,” explained Jgodic. “They are a little challenging because, you know, some areas–it’s breaking through, but its good for racing.”
