4th Annual BIPOC Business Showcase fills the Depot
The 4th Annual Northland BIPOC Business Showcase kicked off their 4th year on Saturday at the Duluth Depot. The event showcased over 30 BIPOC businesses of all kinds from around the Northland. Event organizers highlighted that during Black History Month, people tend to focus on the challenges and adversities experienced by the BIPOC community, rather than on the accomplishments. They say that events like this one can help build better community connection.
This event was created by local community organizer, Kia Ronning, who came up with an idea that has become a platform to uplift and center local Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) businesses. “This showcase is so important to me & the BIPOC community. People need to know about our amazing skills, resources, and talents,” says Ronning. “Thank you so much to our sponsor for helping us make this happen.”
