70-year-old injured in Carlton County ATV accident
One person was injured following a single ATV accident in Carlton County on Tuesday. According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call that an ATV had flipped on the 2500 block of County Road 4 in Mahtowa Township. The caller reported the driver was unconscious.
According to the Sheriff’s office, a 70-year-old driver apparantly lost control of the ATV while switching from a gravel driveway onto the pavement of County Road 4. When help arrived, they found the ATV on top of the driver. They patient was transported to a Duluth area hospital with significant injuries. The driver was not wearing a helmet.
Police say alcohol was not a factor and there was minimal damage to the ATV.
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mahtowa, Blackhoof and Carlton Fire Departments, Carlton Ambulance and Cloquet Area Fire District Ambulance, along with Life Link.
