New signs showcasing 988 resource to be placed on bridges

Both the Blatnik and Bong Bridges will have signs that show the 988 resource for those in crisis.

There will soon be new signs on the Blatnik and Bong Bridges, highlighting the resource 988 for mental health.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States and its territories.

Chrissy Barnard, Executive Director of NAMI Lake Superior South Shore, got this going in January. And she worked with Superior, Douglas County, and WisDOT to make it a reality.

Other cities like Wausau and Eau Claire have also installed signs.
