A warm welcome home for Duluth firefighter Ray Skoglund at the fire hall on Saturday, as he prepares to do more rehab for his injuries from a crash.

Duluth firefighter Ray Skoglund has returned home, after months of care and rehab further west.

The 25-year-old greeted dozens of friends and well-wishers on Saturday at an open house at the main fire headquarters.

Ray told us that he’s feeling good. “It’s been amazing to see everybody. All the support I’ve been getting, it’s great to give them a big thank you in person.

He plans on doing more work on regaining his strength and mobility here in the Northland. He had been training for Grandma’s Marathon when he was hit by a vehicle, back in January.

Friends ran the marathon last weekend with shirts that said ‘Running with Ray,’ and on the back, ‘Cars Are Weak.’

His family said they are beyond grateful for all of the love and support that have gotten them this far.

Ray is also a member of the 148th Fighter Wing.
