Annual Duluth Labor Day picnic kicks off at Bayfront

The annual Duluth Labor Day Picnic hosted by the Central Duluth Labor Body kicked off at Bayfront Festival Park on Monday September 2nd.

The picnic featured free food, musical performances by the Duluth Musicians’ Association, and a bouncy castle. The picnic also hosted labor endorsed candidates and elected officials.

The event was family friendly, free and open to the public from 12pm to 4pm.

“Duluth has one of the highest union densities of any city in that nation, and we like to celebrate that. Today we’re celebrating labor and its contributions to our society,” said event coordinator Corey Cusick. “I think it’s a good reminder that unions are out doing their thing. Fighting to make sure that working people rights are still on the forefront our legislatures mind and things like that.”

The Duluth Labor Day Picnic has been an annual event going on for decades.
