Authorities investigate a shooting Monday night in Aurora

Authorities in Aurora are investigating a report of a shooting that occurred Monday evening. According to the East Range Police Department, a call came in around 7 p.m. of a shooting at 13 E 3rd Avenue S in Aurora. The caller stated a 54-year-old woman was outside screaming to call 911. The report says a bang was heard.

Shortly after, police say the 22-year-old suspect called 911 saying he just shot someone.

Police took the suspect into custody at the residence, and located the woman about a half block away. According to the police report, while running away from the scene, the woman tripped and fell as the suspect fired the gun, missing the victim. Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The bullet hit a neighboring house, and no one was injured in the home. The woman received medical attention and had a scraped knee from the fall.

Authorities executed a search warrant of the residence when the incident occurred and a firearm was located.

The East Range Police Department was assisted by the Gilbert Police, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Babbitt Police, Breitung Police, Minnesota State Patol, Hoyt Lakes Ambulance and First Responders from Aurora Fire Department.
