For two months the DECC is offering a Barbie retrospective through the ‘Barbie: A Cultural Exhibition’.

The museum-quality exhibition features the 65-year history of Barbie and her global impact. The exhibit started in Las Vegas in 2021. Then it moved to Phoenix. Duluth is it’s third stop and the only Minnesota stop on their national tour.

You can find ticket information for ‘Barbie: A Cultural Icon’ here.

The Exhibit has more than 300 vintage artifacts, life-size Barbie Ultravette, life-size Barbie boxes, and other memorabilia. They also have the 1st Barbie that was ever created.

DECC Communications Director Lucie Amundsen says, “You hear audible gasps of like, I had that Barbie or this is the dream house I always wanted and never got.”

She mentions that through the exhibit not only do you learn about what Barbie was up to, but you also learn more about where women were at in those decades. “There is a Barbie Renaissance and people are just coming to really understand what an important figure she has been for young women growing up,” says Amundsen.
