Bayfield and Sawyer County Sheriff’s Offices ask hunters to keep an eye out for missing people

Wisconsin has 9-day gun deer season opener this weekend, but Bayfield and Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office need help. There’s two people who’ve been missing for over a year, and both counties are asking hunters to keep an eye out.

The first missing person Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office is Joyce E Lenz. She disappeared back in May of 2022 after wandering away from her home near Cable, WI. She still hasn’t been found, and her family is offering a $1,000 reward.

Lenz was last seen leaving her residence on foot in the vicinity of S. Lake Owen Drive in the Township of Drummond, on May 24th 2022. She has gone missing before and has been located in cabins, walking in the woods or on the road. Authorities describe Lenz as a white 84-year-old woman, gray hair with hazel eyes, weighing a 130 pounds and 5’0″ tall.

Norbert A. Dantzman, who goes by the nickname “Tony,” went missing on August 30th back in 2019. Dantzman was staying at the Northern Lights Motel (also known as the Strouf Motel) in Winter, Wisconsin. He traveled to Wisconsin from his home in California for a family reunion. His family members noticed he went missing from the motel around 10:00am on August 30th back in 2019.

Dortzman is a white 94-year-old man, he has white hair with brown eyes, he’s 136 pounds and is 5’9″.He was last seen wearing a grey or white hat, eyeglasses, a checkered shirt, black vest, black pants, black shoes, his wedding ring and an additional gold ring.

Dantzman wears dentures and has crooked fingers. He didn’t take any identification with him or his cellphone. The last time Mr. Dantzman was seen he was traveling on foot north of the Northern Lights motel. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the recovery of Norbert Dantzman.

Both the Bayfield and Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office appreciate any help from the hunting public. If hunters notice anything suspicious in the woods, report it to local law enforcement.
