Bayfront Blues Festival celebrates 35 years

A family legacy returns to the Bayfront Blues Festival

Bayfront Blues Festival turns 35 years old, and artist Bernard Allison's father was at the very first festival.

This weekend’s Bayfront Blues Festival will mark their 35th anniversary.

Friday through Sunday multiple blues acts will take the stage of Bayfront Festival Park. you can find the full list of artists here.

One of the artists performing is Bernard Allison, his father is Luther Allison who played the very first year of the Bayfront Blues Festival.

“I remember the first time I believe I was 12 years old, playing with my father and to be invited back to carry on the Alison tradition is just awesome feeling,” says Bernard.

The festival also draws talent from the Twin Cities, Like Mick Sterling and the Stud Brothers. When asked about performing this year Mick says, “Anything that can last that long is gigantic.”

As the Bayfront Blues Festival celebrates their 35th anniversary, musical acts came from all over to perform their music.

“We just love being a part of– and me personally, I’m a big part of the history of that great event. And people have come up to me every year and say, ‘Do you remember when you guys did this?’ And we are a part of their collective memory of that place so I’m honored to be apart of that,” says Mick.
