The Beargrease 120-mile race first place finisher has made it across the Trestle Inn finish line early Monday morning. Joanna Oberg crossed the line with a time of 15:05.15 per race officials Monday morning.
Oberg is from Grand Marais, Minnesota and she operates a fishing and hunting resort in northwestern Ontario with her family in the summer. They keep a small kennel called ‘Run Silent Racing’, which holds between 15-20 dogs with adults and puppies.
Oberg loves dogs, excitement, adventure and the outdoors so it was a perfect fit! She was 14 when she got her first sled dogs, a Samoyed and a Siberian Husky.
Last year’s champion Rita Wehseler came in second.
