Bus driver charged with two counts of DWI
A Culver man faces two DWI charges after allegedly driving a school bus drunk last week.
The criminal complaint said that Anthony Stephen Israelson, 44, had been drinking at a bar in Brookston. And someone there knew he was a bus driver, so they called 911 with concerns about his driving kids around the next day.
Authorities met up with Israelson at his home around 6:30am, and he reportedly said he was not working that day. This was on Wednesday, September 4th.
The criminal complaint said authorities found out he was indeed working and went to the area of his route.
Investigators then observed the bus cross over the double yellow line, and stopped him.
Israelson allegedly had a preliminary blood alcohol content of .16.
There were 18 kids on the bus at the time. They attend South Ridge.
