Car crash kills two near Lake Nebagamon

UPDATE: The driver has been identified as Ariel Lee Pierre (27) of Ashland. Her passenger was Bridget Rose Pierre (28) of Bayfield.
At 8:28 pm Saturday, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle crash in Douglas County near Lake Nebagamon.
The crash occurred on County Highway H near Koho Road. According to the press release, the initial investigation indicates a car was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
Upon law enforcement’s arrival, it was discovered that the two occupants of the car were deceased. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
Assisting agencies included the Brule Fire Department and Duke’s Towing. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
