Carlton County house complete loss after fire

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office reported to a fire around 2:30 a.m. on at 2524 County Road 157 in Skelton Township Tuesday morning, August 13. The Barnum, Moose Lake, and Mahtowa fire departments also responded to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the house was found to be fully involved with fire and was a complete loss,” explained Sheriff Kelly Lake. “One of the property owners was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital
for smoke inhalation where they were treated and released.”

All occupants of the house made if outside safely. The American Red Cross has been notified and will be assisting the homeowners.

The fire does not appear suspicious and its cause is under investigation.
