Celebrating the last day of summer in Canal Park
As the summer season comes to a close, kids and their families are getting their last bouts of fun in the sun before the first day of school.
“We’re actually from the twin cities. We stopped here for our last day of summer yesterday, so we stopped here. We’re hanging out here, and then we’re heading home, so get ready for school tomorrow,” said Jessica Vrieze, who came to Canal Park with her husband Jacob and two sons Oliver and Jackson.
For some, even getting sick won’t stop them from enjoying their last day of summer. Charlie and Griffin came to Canal Park to enjoy the nice weather with their dad, Dan after spending the weekend sick.
Families from all around flocked to Duluth to soak up the sun, taste some frozen treats, and overall enjoy all the attractions the Twin Ports have to offer.
“We love Duluth. We’ve been coming up here since before these kids were born, we wanted to spend some time as a family for once having all of the kids up here and seeing what we liked, so we stopped at the train station, we stopped in the aquarium, so we did lots of fun things. This was our last stop here,” said Jessica Vrieze.
And even though summer vacation has come to an end, there is still a lot to look forward to with the start of school.
“I’m excited to see my friends,” said Charlie.
“What are you excited for?’ said Dan.
“Uh, yeah, my friends,” said Griffin.
