Verizon services restored in Ely area

Update: Liz Gelardi, a representative with Verizon said service has been restored in the Ely area.

An AT&T representative provided WDIO with the following statement:

“Some of our wireless customers in the Ely area may have recently experienced service disruptions, due to a power outage that affected the fiber cable transport to one of our cell sites. As of last night, service has been restored and is operating normally.”

Original Story: Cell phone service outages are being reported out of the Ely area.

Liz Gelardi, a representative from Verizon released the following statement:

“A third-party fiber cut is causing a service interruption for some customers in the Ely area. We are working with the vendor to restore service as quickly as possible.”

According to the Ely Chamber of Commerce, the outages have been going on since Tuesday.

The Ely Police Department stated that while these outages are ongoing, it is not affecting their 911 services.
