Children safe after Wisconsin abduction, man in custody

A 3-year-old and 6-year-old are back with their family after a reported abduction Wednesday in Wisconsin.

An Amber Alert had been issued for two missing children in Wisconsin just after 6 p.m.

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office says it received information that the kids were abducted from Ashland, and a tip led them to the area of LE Phillips Scout Reservation, near Haugen. Deputies began their search with the Department of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin DNR, and staff from the Scout Reservation.

During this, the suspect’s car was reportedly found in the Baronett area. Authorities say they found the suspect and the children nearby. The kids were taken to Mayo to be checked out and reunited with their family.

WDIO’s sister station KSTP heard from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office that the suspect is related to one of the children who were abducted.

Gage Ryon Ackley-Dechant (30) of Drummond is currently held at the Barron County Jail on a probation warrant.
