Chum launches critical funds drive for March

This March, Chum is launching a drive to raise funds for their food shelf to help the Duluth community.

The March food drive is aiming to raise money for Minnesota food shares, which helps the shelter provide fresh produce to people facing food insecurity.

Something that’s very rare according to April Ledoux the Director of Distributive Services. She says, “In the Northland here we are the only foodshelf that’s able to give them fresh produce from farmers. So having their shares here is extremely important for our community.”

The Whole Foods Co-Op is one partner that is helping Chum with their goal. They are doing a round up program for the food shelter.

General Manager Sarah Hannigan says, “Our shoppers are going to be really happy to donate to Chum this month. And we found year after year that Chum is almost always the entity that gets the most donations through our round-up program.”

Chum is aiming to raise $80,000 and 40,000 pounds of food in the month of March.
