City of Superior begins opening outdoor ice-skating rinks
The City of Superior announced Wednesday that there will be a gradual opening of their outdoor ice-skating rinks and warming sheds.
Due to the unseasonably warm temperatures, openings were delayed. Starting Wednesday, January 10, the City will do a gradual opening of the ice-skating rinks as ice conditions allow. The first rink open will be the Carl Gullo Rink, located at 510 26th Avenue East.
The City of Superior says to check their Facebook page and website or call the hotline (715-395-7299) for updates on when other rinks will open. City rinks are open Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm and weekends from noon to 8 pm.
Once a rink is open for the season, the public is welcome to use the rinks outside of staffed hours as rink lights will be on, but attendants will not be on site. Warming sheds will not be open outside of the staffed hours.
The City of Superior hopes to help create a positive and memorable experience for the community. Helmets are required for those under 17 playing hockey. Each warming shed has a couple of helmets that can be borrowed, and every rink has skates available to use. Please call ahead to be sure the size you need is available.
