Community Action Duluth enters another year of Community Construction training

Community Action Duluth is moving on with another year of their unique employment training program. The program, titled Community Construction, is focused on bringing living-wage employment the trades to those facing barriers to employment and addressing the affordable housing issue in Duluth at the same time.
This is the second year Community Action Duluth has put on this program, 2022 was when the program launched.
The program allows participants to remodel homes for low-income families while learning trade skills like tool safety, construction math, framing, insulation and more. Participants will also get employment and financial coaching, and soft skills such as writing a resume and interviewing.
Those who participate will go through a one-year program to complete safety training, learn trade skills, and further their career. Community Action Duluth says their goal for this program is to allow participants to further their career path after by entering union apprenticeships, acquiring a permanent living wage, continuing to higher education, or going into business for themselves.
